IAIDO AND JODO ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE
About
Iaido and Jodo Association of Singapore ("IJAS") was established in 2022 with aims of promotion of Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei ("ZNKR"), 全日本剣道連盟, Iaido and Jodo. ZNKR Iaido developed by an appointed panel of the All Japan Kendo Federation ("AJKF") to standardise Iaido kata.
ZNKR Jodo was created by Japanese martial artist Shimizu Takaki and was presented to AJKF. This style of standardised iaido is known as Seitei Iaido/Jodo (制定 居合道/杖道) or Zenkenren Iaido/Jodo (全剣連 居合道/杖道).
The main purpose of this standardisation was to allow a more accessible approach to the practice of Iaido and Jodo, and to introduce Iaido and Jodo to new generations. Further, as with all art forms, it is a living art that is growing and developing around the world.
With similar intentions, IJAS was formed by local Iaido groups in Singapore to develop and continue the practice of ZNKR or Koryu style of Iaido and Seitei Jodo, along traditional lines. IJAS emphasizes on the fundamentals that will enable practitioners to continuously develop and hone their skills for a lifetime of rewarding practice. IJAS supports local Singapore Iaido and Jodo clubs by:
-
organising national tournaments;
-
organising national exams;
-
organising promotional examination opportunities for higher ranks;
-

-
